The Diocesan Schools’ service took place in St Mary’s Cathedral, Tuam, on Friday 13th January. About 120 staff and pupils from the four Church of Ireland National Schools in the ‘north end’ attended. It was wonderful to be together again in person, the first in-person schools’ service since the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020. The service was led by Canon Jen McWhirter and children from the schools read the lessons and led the prayers of intercession. The Bishop was the speaker and talked to us of water, finishing his thoughts by sprinkling us liberally with water as a reminder of what he had said.
Following the service the children enjoyed their lunches in the Synod Hall and refreshments were provided for their chaperones.
Thank you to all from the Cathedral who hosted the service and Michele Gill who played the piano for us.
Schools are Leaffoney NS, St Michael’s NS, Holy Trinity NS and St Nicholas Parochial School.
