Dedicated to St Brendan of Birr, the present building replaced a mediaeval church near the Castle, which was too small for the then garrison. Consecrated in 1816, it has some fine stained glass windows and communion silver, a beautiful stone pulpit and a pipe organ.

The village of Lorrha is west of Birr and near Lough Derg.
Dedicated to St Ruadhan of Lorrha (pronounced 'ROOan'), who founded a monastery there in 550 AD, the parish church is adapted from part of a 12th century church building.

It as built in 1832 to replace the 12th century church beside it.

Lockeen Parish Church was built in 1822, reputedly with stone quarried from the then Rectory lands nearby. The previous building is in the adjoining graveyard. The interior was refitted c1910.
