The schools service was held in Tuam Cathedral on Friday 8th November and the preacher was Anthony Njoroge from the Urban Development Programme in Nairobi. Anthony is in Ireland through the support of the Bishops’ Appeal Harman Scholarship and CMS Ireland and spent a couple of days with Steve Brickenden before heading to Ballina rectory where he stayed before preaching in the Killala Union on Sunday. It was wonderful to have him speak to the children and the service was uplifting and most enjoyable. After he had spoken about us all being God’s children, and sharing some of his story, we blessed the cathedral by making a ‘train’ and walking round the nave singing ‘this little light of mine.’ For the first time it was wonderful to welcome all Church of Ireland children, regardless of the school they attend.
