St John’s Tralee Bicentenary Celebration & Harvest Thanksgiving – Preacher: The Most Rev’d Richard Clarke Archbishop of Armagh

The Rector and Select Vestry of St John the Evangelist in Tralee celebrated the Bicentenary of the enlargement of St Johns in 1819.

The parish celebrated the fact that Anglicans worshipped in the church before it was enlarged and prior to that a pre reformation church existed on the site which was founded by the Knights Hospitaler order of St John who were invited to Kerry by the Geraldines in the 1200’s who ruled Kerry at that time.

The service was in the context of the Holy Communion with a focus on the Harvest.

The service was led by the Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe, the Rt Rev’d Kenneth Kearon, and the gospel was read by the Bishop of Kerry, the Rt Rev’d Ray Browne.

The Preacher was be The Most Rev Richard Clarke, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland.
