The June Bank Holiday has now become a regular day for Sneem Church to reinforce its role as a part of the local Community by inviting all – both residents and visitors – to enjoy and buy food, games, plants, books and bric-a-brac.
In the past, we have shared takings between the church, St Michael Catholic Church and local charities. This year we felt it right that we should also donate to Hansen, the young man in Nairobi in who has been supported in his education by the generosity of our much-loved churchwarden Rosemary Dixon, who died earlier this year. In fact, many of the books and items for sale had been donated by Rosemary’s family as they had the difficult task of sorting out her house.
The weather was kind (so were most of the local midges, who didn’t feel that they should be excluded from the party). Of particular interest was the opportunity to Bat the Rat, making sure he didn’t escape from his hiding place in a drainpipe.
