On Saturday, June 24th at 3.30pm the Rev Keith Barry will be instituted in Nenagh.
Bishop Michael writes…Rev Barry comes to the shores of Lough Derg after a long effective ministry particularly in military chaplaincy in the context of the British armed forces. However, his home place is Kinsale in Co Cork and he is delighted to be returning to parochial ministry in his native land.
Rev Barry says “In the Bible, the end of successful journeys is often marked by rest and refreshment and that is my vision for the Nenagh Union of Parishes: that we will be in the community, for the community a place of rest and refreshment, a place where through word, sacrament, music, silence and service we fold space and time into what a church is meant to be – an Embassy of the Kingdom of Heaven where the Divine may be glimpsed, felt and fed upon to give us the strength to carry on in our Pilgrimage of the Christian Life”.
We ask for your prayers for Rev Barry as he embarks on new ministry in Nenagh & the Utd Dioceses of Tuam, Limerick & Killaloe and for the parishioners of Nenagh Union as they prepare to welcome their new Rector.
His Institution as Incumbent will take place at St Mary’s Church, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary at 3.30pm on Saturday, 24th June, 2023 – Midsummer’s Day and the Feast of the Birth of John the Baptist.
