Tuam Cathedral Remembrance Sunday Service

The Annual Service of Remembrance for those who gave their lives in clonfict in the cause of peace and justice was held in Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Tuam on Sunday 12th November.
Members of the Irish United Nations Veterans Association were present and displayed the UN Peace Keepers Flag with the Galway Branch Colours alongside the National Flag.


The Service began with the traditional wreath laying ceremony: wreaths were laid on behalf of the Rifle Regement, the Cathedral Congregation and the U.N. Peacekeepers. A minute silence was observed and The Dean read the words of Remembrance.
The sermon was preached by Bishop Rooke who also celebrated The Holy Communion. Lessons were read by Judith Hesford and Eddie Maginnis and Rachel Pike led the mysic on the cathedral organ.
