Take Aways now on the Menu at St John’s

The Soup kitchen, which was established in 2012 in Teach an tSolais at the parish centre attached to St Johns Church in Ashe Street, is still providing dinners every Saturday morning.

It is run by a small team of volunteers and is coordinated by Collette Price and is classed as an essential service but it has had to adapt how it works at the moment and can no longer serve meals in a restaurant type setting because of social distancing and the HSE advice.

However, the team have been arranging for other ways to help their clients.

For the last two weeks they have been producing Take-Away meals which diners have been collecting from the Parish Centre, but from next week they will be providinjg a delivery service to those self-isolating at home.

Revd Jim Stephens says, It’s wonderful to watch this enthusiastic team at work under these most difficult times.’
