The Reverend Lynda Peilow was Instituted to the Grouped Parishes of Galway and Kilcummin in St. Nicholas’ Church, Galway on Friday 14th September.
St. Nicholas’ was full for the occasion. Parishioners of both Galway and Oughterard were joined by local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Galway Counsellor Neil McNelis, friends and colleagues from Lynda’s former diocese of Meath and Kildare and clergy and folk from across TKA. Also in attendance were The Bishop of Meatha nd Kildare, Most Revd Pat Storey, The Bishop of Galway, Bishop Brendan Kelly and the preacher on the night, Revd David White, Rector of Carlow Union of Parishes.
Bishop Patrick Rooke led the Institution Service assisted by Archdeacon Stephen McWhirter and the Diocesan Registrar, Mrs Audrey Shannon. The scriptures were read by Mrs Heather Pope, Diocesan Admistrator, Bishop Pat Storey and Bishop Kelly.
During The Commision parishioners from both Galway and Kilcummin participated: Dolamu Adekeye, Iris Joyce, Paul Adams, Leslie Lyons, and Catherine Emerson.
St. Nicholas’ Choir, under the leadership of Mark Duley, led the singing magnificently and sang the Anthem ‘ Christ be with me’ by Rutter.
A sumptuous supper was served after the service during which there were myriad speeches of congratulations and welcome, all of them extending best wishes to Revd. Peilow.
Bishop Rooke brought things to a close with his own words of thanks to all who had particpated in the evening. He spoke for all in the diocese of TKA when he invoked God’s Blessing on Lynda and her family as they begin a new chapter in their lives in The West.
