A guided tour with Dr Christy Cunniffe reconnecting with the traditions of Pilgrimage through Early Christian Sites in East Galway (Aughrim – Kilconnell – Clontuskert – Clonfert – return to Aughrim)

ARRIVAL TIME 10.30AM – Carpark of HOLY TRINITY Church, Aughrim, Co Galway
On arrival refreshments will be available, followed by a short walk and talk before our day begins.
11.30am – Leave Aughrim – travel to Kilconnell
11.45 – Tour of Kilconnell Abbey (15th cent. Franciscan Friary)
Followed by Refreshments of Tea and Sandwiches
1.30pm – Leave Kilconnell
2.15pm – Tour of Clontuskert Abbey (12th cent. Augustinian Priory)
3.10pm – Leave Clontuskert
3.30pm Arrive for Afternoon tea at Our Lady of Clonfert hall – time of prayer at the church
4.15pm Leave Our Lady of Clonfert
4.30pm – Tour of the Cathedral Church of St Brendan, Clonfert (12th cent)
Final prayers 5.30 – 5.45pm
Leave Clonfert Cathedral – return to Aughrim circa 6.30pm

Round trip transportation from Aughrim. (cost of this to be paid in full when booking)
Tours of three monastic sites and a visit to three churches

• Please bring suitable comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
• No food/ hot drinks are to be consumed on the bus
• Facility will be made available for those who wish to bring their own food, due to dietary restrictions.
• All children must be supervised at all times.
• Please be aware that persons with mobility impairments may have difficulties at Clontuskert but all other places are accessible.
