It was announced today that Bishop Willie Walsh, the retired Bishop of Killaloe had died at the age of 90 yesterday. Bishop Michael Burrows paid this tribute:-
“I was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Bishop Willie, albeit full of years. Fellow Christians of other Christian traditions always found him to be the most generous of friends. With attentiveness and gentleness he always seemed able ‘to think outside the box’ and his courageous thoughts and actions were always motivated by true pastoral compassion. In a rapidly changing Ireland his was a prophetic Christian voice the integrity and value of which continued to command universal esteem.”
