Bishop Michael Burrows is pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Gary Paulsen as Rector of the Cloughjordan and Borrisokane Group of Parishes

Revd Gary Paulsen was born in Cape Town South Africa and studied to be a surveyor and worked mainly in housing development. As a late vocation he studied at the Church of Southern Africa seminary in Grahamstown. He was ordained deacon in 2003 in St Georges Cathedral in Cape Town and  ordained priest in the same cathedral in 2004.  He came to Ireland in 2011 as Rector of Adare and Kilmallock group of parishes and has served in the Church of Ireland ever since.  He is coming to Cloughjordan from the Fermoy Group of parishes in the Diocese of Cork, Clone and Ross.  He has two adult children: a son living in Ireland and a daughter living in Croatia.  Gary says, “I am looking forward to serving as Rector in Cloughjordan and Borrisokane group of parishes, as a new move always creates a new energy. The diocese has changed geographically and in personnel since my last being here. I look forward to my move in January and being part of it all.”

His Institution will take place at St Kieran’s Church, Cloughjordan on Sunday, 22nd January 2023 at 4pm followed by refreshments in St Kieran’s Hall.
