‘The Way of the Heart’: The Stations on the Streets
Click on this link for an interview from Beyond Belief on Clare FM that explains the project for Holy Week of Contemporary Stations of the Cross at 14 locations in the Streets of Ennis
As we are unable again to gather to celebrate Holy week and Easter in our churches and parish communities, many have been thinking creatively on how we can mark this important time of year in a safe way. The ‘Way of the Heart,’ a trail highlighting the Stations on the Cross on the streets of Ennis. The Stations will be in situ from Palm Sunday, through Holy Week and for the first few days of the season of Easter.
14 shops/businesses have generously given their shop fronts and windows around the streets of the town to display contemporary images of Stations of the Cross which acknowledge the suffering of people during this time. A map will indicate the route to follow which begins at the Poor Clare Convent, travels along Frances St., Abbey Street, the Square and O’ Connell St. Anyone who wishes can walk the trail in their own time.
A contemporary image or artwork and a very short reflection is placed at each station. This is an ecumenical project between the Church of Ireland and the Roman Catholic church. If you cannot make it to Ennis, photographs of each station and the accompanying reflections will be on www.killaloediocese.ie
Well done to the hard working committee, Joanne O’Brien, Maureen Kelly, Sue O’ Brien, Roisín O’ Loughlin and Sr. Betty O’ Riordan
