There was a full house in Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Tuam for the visit of Guilford High School Choir on the Tuesday of Holy Week.
The Choir hail from Connecticut, USA and were on a whirlwind tour of Irish venues. The concert in Saint Mary’s was organised in conjunction with Western Alzheimers, all proceeds of the night going to this most excellent of causes.
The evening began with the full, 100 strong, High School Choir singing pieces from one of Motzart’s Short Masses, traditional Spirituals and established American composers. The senior members of the choir, The High School Singers, then took over and performed pieces based on three Sheakspeare texts, finishing off with a modern arrangement of ‘Danny Boy’.
